This session shares excerpts of some of Dr. King’s speeches including his famous “I Have a Dream” – Washington, D.C., August 28, 1963, “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break the Silence” – Riverside Church in New York City, April 4, 1967, and “I’ve been to the Mountaintop” – Memphis, Tennessee, April 3, 1968, to suggest that Dr. King’s beliefs and advocacy extends beyond race, racial inclusion, and racial allyship to all aspects of diversity.

Many leaders and people of Native American, Puerto Rican, Mexican American, and poor white communities in Appalachia pledged themselves to the Poor People Campaign.
